All trainings and presentations will be done by Angela Whitten, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Stay; For Life. Angela, with the help of her co-founders, formed the 501c(3) non-profit organization.ย  Angela will share her insights on the critical importance of equipping individuals with the necessary tools to better understand and manage their well-being.ย  She provides practical strategies and resources to facilitate awareness and mechanisms to foster growth.ย  Drawing from her personal experience as a mother who tragically lost her 18-year-old son, Trent, to suicide in June 2022, Angela brings a unique and powerful perspective to her advocacy work.

Angela has created extremely useful tools for all who hear her story and more importantly to be shared with those who might not. The resources are incredibly helpful, especially for folks who might not be versed in suicidal ideation treatment and/or prevention. There are cards with suggestions about what to say, where to find help and notes to let folks know that they matter. This gift of tools was well received by our attendees. The โ€œStay for Lifeโ€ presentation given by Angela would be a benefit for any organization. The topic might feel sensitive for many folks but that is exactly why it needs to be heard. We need to be sure that all people know how to access support for a person who might be feeling as though they just canโ€™t stay.

The team from "Stay; for Life" demonstrated an impressive level of professionalism and care during their interaction. They approached the sensitive topics of mental health and suicide with a compassionate and thoughtful manner, making these conversations approachable and less intimidating for the young people involved. Their ability to discuss such crucial issues in a way that is engaging yet gentle is truly commendable.
